... (Farsi for ‘woman’) is an ongoing photographic series of Iranian women who left their home country after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, motivated by various reasons. All of them were looking for another life for themselves, yet always taking the spririt of their home country and culture with them. This led to a dual society of Iranians, especially around the female population, who had to struggle political as well as personal losses. These staged portraits document a group of people who live allegedly free but are still somehow chained by their origin and balancing act of living between Western and Middle-Eastern cultures and societies.

I photographed so far in Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and in the United States of America.
